The Taiwan Toy Manufacturers Association
The Taiwan Toy manufacturers Association (TTMA), which acts as a bridge
between its 394 member manufacturers and their counterparts abroad, was founded
in August 1968. Twenty-one directors and seven supervisors elected by the
members run the association and find ways to expand the scope of services. The
association also has 12 full-time employees to handle general affairs.
TTMA continues to adhere to its guiding principle following the launch of
its program to assist Taiwan's toy manufacturers and traders to improve their
management systems and expand their sales networks. It has also drawn up its
plans for the future:
1. To assist Taiwan toy makers and traders to expand their global sales networks by:
- organizing the Taipei International Toy Show in collaboration with the
China External Trade Development Council (CETRA)
- organizing Taiwan toy makers and traders to take part in the Hong Kong
International Toys and Games Fair and display their products at the Taiwan
Pavilion
- assisting CETRA in organizing the participation of Taiwan toy makers
and traders at the:
- - International Toy Fair in Nuremberg, Germany
- - Tokyo Toy Show
- organizing a group of representatives from Taiwan toy companies to attend
the:
- - International Toy Fair in Nuremberg, Germany
- - Tokyo Toy Show
- establishing and maintaining websites on Taiwan-made toys at
http://www.toy-taipeishow.asiansources.com and
http://www.toybase.com.tw
- gathering overseas toy buyers' enquiries for publication at the
"Toy News Monthly" and the abovementioned website
- helping Taiwan toy makers and traders establish their own company
homepages for use as electronic "product showrooms"
- publishing an annual "Taiwan Toys Buyers' Guide" in cooperation with
Trade Winds Inc.
- gathering overseas buyers' information from important toy fairs around
the world
2. To assist domestic toy makers and importers to expand their local sales networks by:
- holding the Taiwan Domestic Toy Fair every year to increase local trading
opportunities
- gathering name lists of domestic distributors, wholesalers, retailers and
educational institutions for children
3. To assist Taiwan toy companies upgrade their management by:
- helping toy makers establish the Toy Manufacturers Computer System (TMCS)
- assisting domestic distributors, wholesalers and retailers establish
the Toy Sales Computer System (TSCS)
- holding educational training and seminars for toy companies
- providing information concerning toy safety inspections to assist toy
makers improve their R&D ability and upgrade product quality
- assisting toy makers to further implement the quality warranty system
in order to obtain international ISO certification
4. To offer TTMA's members service by:
- helping toy companies obtain TTMA membership
- visiting members and providing assistance required
- holding activities to foster friendship between members
- expanding its membership base to include manufacturers of R/C toys,
model toys, baby articles and sporting toys
5. To encourage investment in other countries and promote trade and economic
activities between Taiwan and Mainland China by:
- building a list of Taiwan's toy investors in other countries and
publishing it
- holding seminars to discuss investment in other countries as well as
the trading and economic activities between Taiwan and Mainland China
- providing information of the investment in Mainland China
6. To publish various kinds of publications, including:
- Membership Roster of Taiwan Toy Manufacturers Association
- Taiwan Toys Buyers' Guide
- Toy Internet Weekly (http://www.toy.com.tw)
- Toy News Monthly
- Taiwan Toys Magazine
- Relevant books on toys
